Infernal Sounds are undoubtedly the best at delivering what you need when you need it. Two years after the release of Saule’s original cut of ‘Cure Dem’, the guys over at Infernal deliver us the hotly anticipated J:Kenzo remix.
It’s always tricky trying to figure out where to start with a review of a release of one of the scene’s biggest dubplates, because I know deep down your soundboy radar already knows it like the back of your hand. It’s the epitome of remixes. It stays true to those minimal aesthetics, with the added sizzle of Kenzo’s proprietary blend of herbs and spices.
Flip the record over and you’re looking at another doozy of a track. ‘Shijima’s Revenge’ is one of those musical contradictions, meditative yet militant. Eyes down and head bop or march around with your hōshuriken, this one’s got you covered.
We’re quite big fans of artwork over here at Juan, so it’s definitely worth taking the time out to appreciate Emily Dayson Illustration’s creation for the release. A shadowy figure backed by a haunting forest stares deep into your soul from afar, really capturing the energy put forth across the two tracks.
